Artisan Spice Blends
We offer quality fresh organic locally grown produce, farm fresh eggs, and artisan spice blends from our homestead farm land located in Wake Forest, NC.
Using organic, permaculture, sustainable, and biodynamic methods in all facets of our farming system from sowing, growing, and harvesting, to selling in local markets and online, we offer local, organic, fresh, products to our customers. While we are not certified organic, we do use organic methods in all stages of our produce production.
While we are not certified organic, we only use organic methods to sow and grow all our plants from heirloom non-hybridized organic seeds to fresh produce at the market. We concentrate on raising fresh culinary and exotic herbs, cucumbers, a variety of tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, okra, pumpkins, and several types of potatoes. Check out our Produce section to view our updated fresh produce list.
As we grow our business we will expand our selections and availability. Future offerings may include black turtle beans, jalapeno peppers, edible flowers, and micro greens.
Our farm fresh eggs are Grade A Medium and sell for $4.00 a dozen. You can place your orders via email and pick up at our location, or at the Wendell Farmers Market on Saturdays from 8 am to noon EST during the market season (May – November). Our hens are on hiatus during the winter months, we hope to start getting fresh eggs again soon.
Our hens are not given any artificial lighting, which many egg producers use to extend the laying period for their hens. We like to keep our hens happy and healthy, and therefore, do not add any artificial lighting. As the daylight hours get shorter and the days get cooler the hens save their energy for warmth and therefore do not lay as many eggs at this time of year.
Our chickens are supplied with feed, scratch and filtered rain water, in addition they are given a supplemental diet of organic scraps from the farm including lettuces, cabbages, and worms. Our chicken breeds include Ameraucana, Buff Brahma, Dominique, and Speckled Sussex.
We cannot call our eggs organic at this time due to the fact that they were not given organic feed immediately after their second day from hatching. Our plan is to acquire a new flock of chicks very soon which will be started out on organic feed from their first day and should be ready to lay eggs by April or May of 2015.
Cajun Chef Ryan Boudreaux offers two spice blends which are hand crafted and prepared in small batches to maintain freshness and quality.
Our Cajun Spice Blend is perfect for any Cajun or Creole preparation, but don’t stop there, it is perfect on any meat, seafood, or vegetable preparations. Perfect for your next batch of chicken and sausage jambalaya, seafood gumbo, or Shrimp Creole.
Our Finger Lickin Rub is the perfect choice for either dry or wet rubs for your next barbeque, grill, or cookout event. Perfect for smoked foods as well, it goes great with our smoked seafood salad (shrimp, oysters, scallops), chicken, beer can chicken, grilled vegetables, and popcorn.
